Packing list: Two Locations, One small carry-on
First time using Indyx to digitally pack for a week away!
I have been using Indyx now to catalogue my wardrobe for a little over three months, and I am addicted. This is the first time that I have used it to aid me when packing for a trip so I was intrigued to see how/if it would make my life easier.
Look, it’s true. I am an avid over packer. There, I said it. My husband will tell you that when we go away I will fill a family sized suitcase for me alone, whilst he ends up with a backpack. (I need options!!)
But the truth is, packing for a trip seriously overwhelms me and I end up throwing in half my wardrobe with absolutely no idea what I will wear. Anyone else?! In turn, when I get there I am annoyed that I didn’t pre plan outfits and end up not even wearing half the things that I packed.
This week’s trip sees us heading to two different locations to ensure the whole family, (including dog), gets to do something that they enjoy. First up camping in a lodge, (I’m not a tent girl), and then onto a city - Cologne.
Obviously these two places require quite different clothing but as we were driving, (limited space), I only had one small carry on sized case. I can’t can do this!
I set up two packing collections on Indyx; one for camping and one for Cologne. I planned the items I wanted to take and subsequently the outfits.
When I was planning for the camping part of this trip my priority was to make sure that I would be warm and comfortable. From my experience everything when camping tends to get filthy so I didn’t want/need to take anything ‘too nice’.
I packed 18 items for 4 nights/5 days split into:
1 pair of Pyjamas,
4 tops: White T-shirt, Black T-Shirt, Vest, Polo neck.
3 bottoms: Sweatpants, Leopard Trousers, Barrel Trousers
3 jumpers: Polo Jumper (I stole borrowed from my husband), Burgundy Sweatshirt, Beige Sweatshirt *similar*.
1 Cardigan,
1 Blazer,
1 Jacket,
2 pairs of shoes: Trainers, Slip ons,
1 Cap,
1 Swimsuit.
I pre planned my outfits in the Indyx app and felt like all bases were covered. Some of the items could also be utilized on the second part of the trip too.
For the few days in Cologne I wanted to be more refined and have suitable outfits for exploring the city & going to nice restaurants etc. A lot of these items cross over but I also thought knew I would be shopping, so I left some room for some new bits that may get added.
For this section of the trip there were 12 items for 2 nights/3 days split into:
2 tops: Vest, White T-shirt,
2 bottoms: Satin skirt, Jeans,
1 Sweatshirt,
1 Cardigan,
1 Blazer,
1 Belt,
1 Bag,
3 pairs of shoes: Slip ons, Trainers, Suede Loafers. (Maybe a little excessive on the shoe front but it gives me options).
I purposefully only planned 3 outfits for this part of the trip as like I said, I had every intention of shopping in the city, so I left it a little open. If nothing tickles my fancy I can always use some items from the first half of the trip - I definitely have options!
So on the whole; so far so good with using the Indyx packing collections! I was able to fit all my items into my carry on sized suitcase with ease and I felt much more in control and less stressed before the trip. I certainly didn’t pack as many items as I usually would.
For camping I honestly had more than I needed, one day I barely changed out of my pyjamas, but when I did, I looked put together, yet comfy. For next time, I could definitely refine the list even more.
Today we move onto Cologne so let’s see how I get on there! All my outfits will of course be documented in Sunday’s ‘Week in outfits’ newsletter, so see you then!
Great post Melissa! Indyx makes packing soooo much easier x
As a huge Indyx fan, I love this! I have been tracking for around the same period of time, and used it over the summer for my holidays. Somehow managed to do carry on for 10 nights because I was more thoughtful in my planning and packing, only possible by visualizing everything in the app. So so so useful. Have two back to back trips coming up in November and will absolutely be using it again!
